Counseling Services
Trauma-informed Therapy
Trauma-Informed Therapy is an approach to mental health care that recognizes and responds to the widespread impact of trauma on a person’s emotions, behavior, relationships, and worldview. It emphasizes safety, empowerment, and trust, and it guides how therapy is delivered—not just what techniques are used.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a short-term, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that helps people identify and change unhelpful thoughts (cognitions) and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. It is one of the most widely used and researched forms of therapy.
Play Therapy
Play therapy is a specialized form of counseling that uses play—a child’s natural language—to help them express thoughts, emotions, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. It is most commonly used with children ages 3–12, but it can also benefit teens and even adults in adapted forms.
EMDR
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It’s a type of psychotherapy designed to help people heal from traumatic or distressing experiences. EMDR is especially well-known for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but it’s also used for anxiety, phobias, grief, and other issues rooted in unresolved past experiences.
Family Therapy
Family therapy is a form of counseling that helps family members improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships by understanding each other’s experiences and needs, healing emotional wounds or trauma, developing healthier ways to relate to one another, navigating life changes such as divorce, illness, blended families, etc, and supporting family members with mental health or behavioral issues.
Emotion Focused Therapy
Emotion-Focused Therapy is a structured, evidence-based approach to psychotherapy that helps individuals, couples, or families explore, understand, and transform emotions. It’s rooted in the belief that emotions are key to identity, meaning, and change—and that healing comes not by avoiding emotions, but by processing them in healthy, supportive ways.

Hear From Our Clients
Candace takes the time to listen without judgment and creates a safe, supportive environment where it’s easy to open up. What really sets her apart is her ability to connect mental and physical wellness—she thoughtfully considers how lifestyle, stress, and medications all interact, which made me feel like I was receiving truly holistic care.
Her guidance is practical, compassionate, and tailored to individual needs. I left session feeling heard, empowered, and better equipped to manage my overall well-being. I would highly recommend Candace Jefferies to anyone seeking a counselor who understands the full picture of health and wellness.
For many years, I neglected my own need for self-care. Through my time with Mendy, I have learned how important it is to care for and love myself in a healthy, balanced way. In every session, I feel both validated and gently challenged, which has helped me grow not only as a person, but also in my relationship with Christ.
Because of her guidance, I have become more present for my family, my loved ones, and most importantly, for myself. Her impact is evident not only in my personal testimony, but also in the tremendous growth of her practice—clearly built with intention, grounded in Christ, and driven by a mission to serve others.
I am incredibly thankful for her support, compassion, and encouragement.
